HAPPY THANKSGIVING November 22, 2017 These wild turkeys are longtime residents of Stony Creek Metropark in Washington Township, and according to a retired park employee, they are likely descendants of birds that were reintroduced to the area in the 1970s and 1980s. Wild turkeys were thought to have all but disappeared from Michigan by 1900 due to habitat loss and unregulated hunting. By 2014, turkeys were found in all of Michigan’s 83 counties once again.
