MASSIVE FIRE

MASSIVE FIRE. The orange glow filling the sky in the late evening on Nov. 20 was caused by a humongous fire near Joslyn and Brown roads in Orion Township. This picture of the fire was taken at the entrance of Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township. Flames could be seen from this vantage point and the roar of natural gas rushing out of a broken pipe could be heard as well. Consumers Energy said that one of its major transmission lines ruptured creating an 18-foot deep crater at the explosion site. The cause of the rupture and fire is still under investigation.
