
Karen Frieda Rasey, 77, formerly of Romeo, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025. She was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Mount Clemens, to Carl and Frieda Schultz of Romeo.
Karen married the love of her life, Denis Rasey, on March 13, 1970. They had 28 years together and raised their three children.
She was very loyal and active in the Ladies Auxiliary with the VFW Post #2052 in Romeo, serving as president as well as other leadership positions for several years.
She loved working at Washington Elementary School as a cook, crossing guard and playground supervisor.
Karen never met a stranger, and she was a “Mom” to so many people, even though they were not hers.
She had a great lighthearted personality and a tenacious sense of humor. Going to garage sales and flea markets were among her favorite things. In her early days she was a fantastic baker and made cakes for birthdays and weddings. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Karen is survived by her children, Carl Rasey (Dannielle), Colleen Strasburg (Bill) and Richard Rasey (Michelle); siblings, Ruth Burrows and Dean Schultz (Carol); 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Denis Rasey, and brothers Dale Schultz and Howard Schultz.
Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in remembrance of Karen may be made to the VFW National Home at https://vfwnationalhome.org.
