
John DeSantis, 97, of Romeo, died Saturday April 19, 2025 in Sterling Heights. He was born Oct. 20, 1927 in Detroit, the son of Walter and Anna (Somma) DeSantis.
John was a World War II Army Veteran who served his country proudly, receiving a Victory Medal for his time fighting in Japan. After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked at Chrysler for 42 years before retiring as a welder. John enjoyed bowling, golfing, and cooking. He was known for his delicious spaghetti sauce.
John is survived by his children, Michael (Shelly) DeSantis of Maryland, Angela Galaz of California, Linda (Scott) Schultz of Macomb Township, Margaret (Les Whitcomb) of Romeo, Anna (Al) Micks of Missouri, Nancy Brock of Washington Township, and Edith Phillips of Mount Clemens, as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Leone in 2009, son, John in 1990, sons-in-law, Michael Galaz, Louis Brock, and Robert Phillips, as well as his sister, Mary.
Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m., Monday, April 28 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 29 with instate at 9:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 343 South Main Street, Romeo
