Notice is hereby given that there will be a Public Hearing held before the Charter Township of Washington Planning Commission on Thursday, June 12th, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the Washington Township Municipal Building Board Room located at 57900 Van Dyke, Washington Township, MI 48094.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to hear and receive comments related to the proposed text amendments to the Township Zoning Ordinance being Ordinance No. 138. The purpose of these proposed amendments is to ensure consistency between use matrices and listed zoning district uses; promote compliance with state statute and relevant case law; define key terms used in the ordinance, reduce inconsistencies and improve overall clarity of the ordinance. Proposed amendments include new and amended definitions and use standards and requirements for Food and Beverage Stores, Governmental Body, Municipal Buildings and Uses, Museum, Private, Open Space, Supermarket, Outdoor Seating Areas and Cafes, Full and Self Service Car Washes (revised A. & D.), Self-Service Storage/Self-Storage Warehouses, Village Multiple Family Site Design (removing reference to MOT pedestrian connection requirements), Garage and Yard Sales (removing reference to temporary sign requirements, E.), Residential Open Space Development- Open Space Requirements (references to open space are amended in 1. and iii.), incorporating the Village District Design Guidelines as Appendix B for the remaining recommended design elements not included within the V-1 District regulations along with repealing any and all Ordinances and/or resolutions in conflict therewith.
Everyone will be given an opportunity to speak during the Public Hearing.
