ON TARGET. Approximately 250 women participated in the Women on Target event on Saturday, May 9 at North Macomb Sportsman Club in Washington Township. The event is designed to encourage participation in the shooting sports by providing information about gun safety, demonstrating various shooting disciplines and giving an opportunity to try various firearms. Pictured holding up their targets after practice at the club’s pistol range is Sara Totten and her daughter Myla Totten, both of Fort Gratiot. Sara Totten said her favorite demonstration of the day was archery. Myla Totten is a member of the club’s youth riffle league and said she liked being able to try out different shooting disciplines. Mary Jane Wells, lead organizer of the event, said, “It’s the largest event in Michigan and this has always been held on Mother’s Day weekend so mom could have a different kind of fun.” (Photo by Larry Sobczak)
