Morgan Keith Hartsig, 71, of Romeo, died Monday, April 27, 2026 at home. He was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Livonia, to the late Mary Jane and Thomas Hartsig.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Christine and a devoted father as well as a business owner and an avid private pilot who logged thousands of hours flying his home-built Zenair.
He had a deep interest in the sciences, particularly astronomy. As a teenager, he taught himself to build telescopes, grinding his own lenses, and even constructed a backyard observatory. In 2024, with that same enthusiasm, Morgan arranged for his family to come together to witness the solar eclipse along the path of totality. Throughout the last decade, he also enjoyed spending time at his cottage near Escanaba.
Morgan is survived by his beloved wife, Christine; his three sons, William (Lindsay Little), Patrick (Christina), and Thomas (Ashley Wiers); his siblings, Bradley, Kurt, and Katherine; and his cherished grandchildren, Urban, Ondrej, Clara, and Ada. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Thomas.
A celebration of Morgan’s life will be planned for early fall of this year so his newest granddaughter, due in July, can also be in attendance.
He will be remembered for his curiosity, ingenuity, dedication to his family, and his genuine, loving hugs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donate Life America (donatelife.net).
