The Ray Township Board of Trustees at its regularly scheduled meeting of July 21, 2026, adopted the revisions to the Land Development and Engineering Standards Ordinance #60, a summary of which is as follows:
The ordinance amendments are and update to the Township’s engineering design and construction requirements for public and private infrastructure improvements, including but not limited to roads, stormwater management systems, utilities, site development standards, plan review procedures, construction specifications, and related engineering requirements. The amendments are intended to ensure compliance with current regulatory agency requirements and engineering practices, improve public infrastructure, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of Township residents.
Major updates to the ordinance include the following:
Detailed technical standards were added to the Ordinance so that engineering requirements are easily accessed and understood.
Standards were added for responsible expansion of sewers and water main.
The submittal process for engineering plans was modernized and streamlined.
The fee schedule for engineering reviews and construction oversight was changed to ensure actual costs to the Township are reimbursed.
Long-term operation and maintenance requirements for new private infrastructure were added to ensure that new developments are responsibly maintained by the property owners.
The new ordinance removes requirements that are outdated, redundant, or contradictory to other state and local regulatory agency standards.
The Ray Township revisions to the Land Development and Engineering Standards may be inspected or a copy obtained from the Ray Township located at 64255 Wolcott Road, Ray, MI 48096 during regular business hours. This Ordinance will take effect thirty (30) days from the date of this publication
