Virginia Ann Bjornstad, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. Born to Joseph and Gladys Verellen on Nov. 4, 1943, Virginia grew up in Romeo where she remained a lifelong member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. In 1963, Virginia married the love of her life, Howard Dean Bjornstad, and together they built a family rooted in warmth, devotion, and laughter.

She graduated from Romeo High School in 1961, and in 1962 proudly held the title of Miss Romeo, a reflection of her grace, charm, and community spirit.

In her early years, Virginia worked as a dental office manager, a role she returned to later in life and continued for many years before retiring. She was also a proud member of a local sorority, contributing her time to charitable work that supported her community.

Virginia was known for her caring nature and her unwavering willingness to give her time, energy, and heart to others. She found joy in baking, gardening, decorating her home and traveling — simple pleasures that reflected her nurturing spirit and curiosity about the world.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife whose greatest joy came from caring for the people she loved.

Those who knew her will remember her kindness, her steady presence, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

Virginia is survived by her four children: Annette Woods of Florida, Gwenn Bjornstad Larsson (Husband Sonny) of Stockholm, Sweden, Jill Sobieszczyk (Husband Lee) of Illinois, and Eric Bjornstad of Illinois. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Haley, Emma, Alec, Alexa, and Anna.

She is further survived by her siblings: Mike Verellen, Jane Keller, Mary Bristol, Mark Verellen, Daniel Verellen, Patricia Hlavaty, Jeff Verellen, Marcia Bowers, Mitchell Verellen, and Richard Verellen. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ron and Jerry Verellen.
