The Sandbox Foundation awarded two scholarships during its second annual fundraiser on Friday, May 12. Pictured left to right are Sandbox Foundation advisor Rock Kuchenmeister, Dakota High School senior Jared Newton, Utica High School senior Adam Walters, foundation advisor Cheryl Kuchenmeister and the Rev. Jeff Draeger. Newton received the Inspiration Scholarship and Walters received the Wayne Scholarship. The fundraising event was a “Wine and Cheese Gathering,” with guests donating two bottles of wine. The first bottle was uncorked and served. The second bottle was sold at silent auction. The foundation awarded two continuing scholarships earlier this year to Maream Nori, a Romeo High School graduate, and Adam Frost, a Dakota High School graduate. The foundations final two scholarships for the year were awarded during the Romeo High School Honors Night on May 22 after The Record’s deadline and will be announced in a later issue.
