In the top photo, Brandon Minnick, left, and Stephanie Minnick, both of Almont, guide bales of hay that were thrown onto a flatbed wagon by a mechanical hay baler into a stack at the end of the trailer. The Minnicks were helping their grandfather, Washington Township farmer Dan Brown, cut and bale hay on a humid 90 degree day last week. The whole operation is visible in the bottom photo where Mike Brown Jr. of Washington Township (wearing a baseball cap) is standing on the wagon alongside the Minnicks. The latest crop of hay was bountiful enough to completely fill both of Brown’s hay wagons forcing him to use the flatbed wagon. (Photos by Larry Sobczak)
