CANE PRESENTATION. Grant Crump Jr., 96, holds a cane that was presented to him on Nov. 7 at the Washington Township Senior Center by the Michigan Woodcarvers Association. Standing next to Crump is Paul Blanchard, who did the eagle head carving. Crump was drafted into the U.S. Army when he was 21 years old and served during World War II from April 3, 1943 to Jan. 12, 1946. He saw action in the Pacific theater of operation from February 16, 1944 to December 13, 1945 in the 897th QM KDRY Company. He was located at Northern Solomon's - Luzon. He is one of fourteen siblings from Mississippi and he was married for 69 years to Ethel May. The Michigan Woodcarvers Association meets regularly at the Washington Township Senior Center.
