OLDEST PEACHMEN. Back in the autumn The Record ran a story about Frank Rolf receiving recognition as one of the oldest known Peachmen which was the name of the Romeo High School Football Team before it became the Bulldogs. Not so fast says Lapeer resident Walter Buhlitz. The 96 year-old and 1940 graduate recently sent us a team photo showing him sitting prominently in the front row wearing number 47. “In 1938, we took Tri-County League Championship where I totaled 12 sacks in in my junior year,” he said. During this year’s homecoming game, Buhlitz plans on attending the school’s homecoming game to reclaim his title as oldest known Peachmen. (Photo submitted by Walter Buhlitz)
