
David George Thompson, Sr., a Christian man, wonderful son, devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home to glory 2 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was 78.
David was born at his grandfather’s farm in Grant Center, Michigan on March 28, 1940 to Hazel B. (Aris) and Donald Thompson.
David is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 59 years Ann (Arnold) Thompson.
David is also survived by his children Lenora (Steve) Saunders, David (Gwenna) Thompson, and Douglas (Rebekah) Thompson who were blessed by God to call him dad.
David is also survived by his grandchildren Aimee (Tracy) Davis, Amanda (John) Vehlewald, Adam (Kate) Smith, Andrew (Jennifer) Smith, William (Stephanie) Thompson, Michael (Diamond) Thompson, Jessica (David) Thompson, Samuel Thompson, Sarah (Matt) Paradiso, Matt (Haley) Saunders, Robert Varga and Villimay Varga who were blessed by God to call him Grandpa.
David is also survived by his great-grandchildren Sadie, Carter, Gracie, Arthur, Addison and Sawyer who were blessed to know him as Great-grandpa.
He was preceeded in death by his beloved brother, Donald William Thompson and sister-in-law, Ada Marie Thompson.
David was the Foreman of Building Maintenance and Construction at Stony Creek Metro Park for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was a resident of Washington Township for 43 years. David was a member of Addison Township Community Church.
A memorial service was held 1 p.m., Tuesday June 12, at Addison Township Community Church, 3020 Lakeville Road in Oxford with a luncheon to following. In lieu of flowers his wife has asked for memorial donations be sent to Addison Township Community Church, 2765 Lakeville Road Oxford, MI 48370.
