DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. This painted turtle was basking itself in a sunny opening on a gravel trail in the woods of the former Shelden Estate area of Stony Creek Metropark. Painted turtles are the most common turtle found in North America. This turtle likely started its day at sunrise, by emerging from a nearby slow-moving stream to bask for several hours.
