PEAK SUMMER

PEAK SUMMER. A sure sign that we are smack in the middle of summer is the appearance of straw bales in fields such as this one along Brown Road in Bruce Township. The straw bales are the bi-product of the grain that was harvested in this field just a few days earlier. Many grains grown locally ripen just as the temperatures are at their highest point for the year and when the daylight lasts the longest. The bales will soon disappear as farmers have many uses for them. (Photo by Larry Sobczak)
