Louise Waryas, 76, of Cheboygan, passed away on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. She was born on Aug. 16, 1942 in Detroit, the daughter of Thomas Sorrells and Ruby Pearl (Trowbridge) Sorrells. On Aug. 18, 1964 she married Robert Waryas in Oak Park, the couple was married for 54 years
She grew up in Oak Park and Berkley and attended school at Oak Park Public Schools. Louise earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and a Master’s Degree from Oakland University. During her working career, Louise was a teacher at Romeo Community Schools for at risk students. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling as well as cooking and entertaining company. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Task Force at St. Mary’s/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Douglas Robert (Karen) Waryas and Thomas Paul (Betty) Waryas; and one granddaughter, Lia Grace Waryas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step mother, Marie Sorrells.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5 with the funeral services for Louise will taking place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at St. Mary’s/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan. There will be a luncheon to follow.
