FREIWALD MEMORIAL. Utica resident Melissa Sartain paints a memorial to her late cousin, Jason Freiwald, on the Romeo Rock located on the west side of Van Dyke between 30 Mile and 31 Mile roads. Freiwald was an Armada native and a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed in action on Sept. 11, 2008 in Afghanistan. A formal memorial will be dedicated to the sailor at 12 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Armada Township Park, 75250 North Avenue. The public is invited. (Photo by Larry Sobczak)
