Richard and Joyce Gwinn of Rochester Hills are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22.

The Gwinns were married at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor E.G. Appel officiating. The couple was actively involved in the church as choir members, teaching Sunday school and members of the men’s and women’s groups as well as helping run the youth program.

As they began their life in Romeo, they briefly lived in an apartment in downtown Romeo. They then moved to Eastview Estates, just south of 30 Mile Road, where their home was one of the first ones built in the subdivision that once was an orchard.

They both taught in the Utica Community Schools system. Dick became the principal of Morgan Elementary School and after retirement he became an interim principal at Washington Elementary School in the Romeo Community School system.

They have two children: Dianne Gwinn Santing (Peter) and Allan William Gwinn (Doreen Vinckier). Their grandchildren are Ashely, John, Jake and Anna.
