Crews fill in the basement last week of a historic home which sat at 129 Church Street in Romeo. The home was damaged in a natural gas explosion on May 6. The homeowner and his pet were at home when the home exploded but were not seriously injured. The demolished home was built in 1895. This is the seventh home to be demolished in Romeo since 2016. Four homes on the east side of the village were demolished after years of neglect. Earlier this year, a home on Benjamin Street was demolished after it was destroyed in a house fire. Hantz Bank demolished a home without a permit in February to make way for a parking lot. (Photo by Larry Sobczak)
