ORCHARD RESTORATION

ORCHARD RESTORATION. The photo above shows the condition of trees that were found in an old orchard on the SS John and Paul Catholic Church property in Washington Township. This apple tree was purposely left unpruned for a gardening workshop that will take place on Feb. 9. The photos on the right show David and Regina Newlin pruning apple trees in the orchard. Winter is an ideal time to prune orchard trees because disease is unlikely to spread in the process. (Photos by Stacy Sobotka)
