The fast-moving waters of Stony Creek create a sharp contrast to last week’s fresh snow in the Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary in Addison Township. The Lakeville Swamp is an 80 acre nature preserve which has been owned by the Michigan Nature Association since 1961. The wetland is one of the last remaining high quality wetland complexes in Oakland County and contains several distinct natural communities including a dense white cedar swamp, prairie fen, southern wet meadow, southern shrub carr and oak barrens.
