Romeo High School Hockey Team is the Division 2 State Champs!

The Romeo High School Bulldogs Hockey Team beat Livonia Stevenson 6-4 to become the Division 2 State Champions on Saturday, March 12 at Plymouth’s USA Hockey Arena.

The game was tied 4-4 entering the third period when Romeo was able to capitalize on a costly mistake by Stevenson sophomore Jake Beaune, who took exception to Romeo’s Luke Kaczor skating in on his goalie and pulling up just before crashing into Cullen Barber.

Beaune head-butted Kaczor right in front of the referee. That resulted in a 5-minute major and ejection, which led to a power-play goal from Logan Jenuwine, his second of the day.

A more thorough recap of the game will appear in the March 23-April 5 edition.
