Barbara H. Dear, 86, of Troy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 7, 2019. She was born on Dec. 24, 1932 in Troy to Harvey and Viola Siglow. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Arthur Mannie Dear.
Barbara resided in Troy her entire life. She attended the Big Beaver School from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She worked for Waggoner Corporation as the assistant office manager and bookkeeper for more than 20 years until she retired in 1990. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing, bowling and being involved in her children’s lives. Later in life she loved being in the garden, planting flowers, reading and being active with her church, Big Beaver United Methodist Church; where she was a member all of her life.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Gina) Dear and Cindy (Mike) Nicley; grandchildren, Matthew Dear, Steven (Mrinmai) Dear, Brianne (Bryan Wietecha), Ryan Nicley and Alex Nicley; great-grandchildren, Â Kian Dear and Evelyn Wietecha; sisters, Betty Schantz and Lillian (Glen) Brokenshaw; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arthur, who passed away in April of 1998 and her brother-in-law, Myrl Schantz.
Family will receive friends 3-8 p.m., Thursday, April 11 at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Road, Troy, 248-689-0700.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Friday, April 12 at Big Beaver United Methodist Church, 3753 John R Road, Troy. Visitation at church begins at 10 a.m.
