John Edward Thorman, 92, of Romeo, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens. He was born Feb. 23, 1927 in Bruce Township, the son of John and Ella (Striber) Thorman. On Aug. 5, 1950, he married Shirley Thomas.
John served his country proud in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked for more than 30 years at the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Pontiac as an assembler, retiring in 1976. After retirement, he did various jobs all in the Romeo area. His greatest joy in life is being with his family, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Barbara (Ted) Robinson of Ray Township, Diane (Doug) Cook of Armada Township, Mark (Luanne) Thorman of Macomb Township and Mary (Dave) VanHorn of Dryden, MI; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his siblings:Â Â Norm, Bob, Isabelle Klanke and Agnes Yenglin.
