
Gladys V. McLean, 80, of Romeo and Ray Township, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was born March 2, 1939 in Romeo, the daughter of Alfred and Dorothea (Fisher) Luscomb. On Aug. 15, 1981, she married Steve E. McLean.
Education was important to Gladys. She returned to high school and earned her general education diploma from Armada High School in 1975. Gladys worked in parts packaging at GM’s Centerline plant, was transferred to its Brownstown plant and returned to the Centerline plant where she retired after 25 years in 1993. She enjoyed camping, fishing, all types of music, spending time in Port Austin, baking, bowling and working in her garden. She loved her many pets and being around her grandchildren. She also, mostly in her younger days, enjoyed dancing, roller skating and playing the accordion in her all girl band.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Rudolf Mengele Jr. of Warren and Katrina (Ed) Zawadzki of Allenton; brother, Wells (Julia) Luscomb of Oregon; sister, Marie (Ron) Campbell of Arizona; grandchildren, Anthony Mengele, Nichole Knox, Adam Mengele and Brandon Mengele; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo.
