Stony Creek Metropark kicked off the holiday week with a fireworks show Sunday night that attracted thousands of spectators from Metro Detroit. The half hour show has been held annually for more than a decade.
In recognition of the holiday on Thursday, July 4, all government offices and banks are closed and there is no mail delivery. Some government offices will also be closed on Friday, July 5; it is recommended to call in advance before making plans. Garbage pick-up scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be a day late this week.
