The National Guild of Piano teachers had recognized Kayla Kasmikha, of Shelby Township, for her talent in performing on the piano. For the past five years, Kasmikha has received a superior rating while performing 10 memorized piano solos. The guild, which includes 900 centers and 118,000 members around the world, gave her a special five-year trophy and a gold pin for each of the past years to recognize her accomplishment this past summer. Kasmikha will be pictured in the Piano Notes magazine, a publication of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Her solos included music from the four classical eras: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary. She is in eighth grade this year at Powell Middle School.
