With picnic tables in place and leaves still on trees, it looks like old man winter froze autumn in its tracks at the West Branch Picnic Area at Stony Creek Metropark last week. The National Weather Service office White Lake Township reports this snowstorm dumped 9.2 inches at Metro Airport on Nov. 11-12, ranking it as the biggest November snowstorm in Detroit history. This breaks the old record of 9 inches, set back on Nov. 15-16, 1932. Our ruler measured 11 inches on those tabletops. (Photo by Larry Sobczak)
