Sandra Michele Kaiser (née Shields), 74, of Brighton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, with the support of her loving family at her home and after a prolonged battle with breast cancer. Sandi was born in 1946 in Washington Township, to Rosella (Davies) and William Shields. On Jan 30, 1965, she married Ronald Kaiser at the Romeo United Methodist Church.

Sandi was mother to daughters Denise and Darla. She raised her children with love and devotion in Romeo with her husband Ron. Sandi was very active in her daughters’ activities – coaching softball, driving to sports, music and horseback riding lessons, and proudly attending all school, music, and sports events. While a young mother Sandi had a passion for fitness, and helped others reach their fitness goals as an aerobics instructor at the Shape Up Shoppe fitness center. She enjoyed cross country skiing, canoeing and playing tennis with her husband, and camping with the family throughout the Midwest and Canada. An animal lover, she welcomed a neglected stray dog into the family and cared for many family pets throughout her life. Sandi continued to travel throughout her life, exploring Northern Michigan with Ron, and often cruising with a close circle of friends to Alaska, Panama and the Caribbean. In 2000 and 2002, she was overjoyed to welcome two grandchildren to the family, Tessa and Logan, and doted on them tirelessly.

When her children were older, Sandi began helping Romeo’s senior citizen community, going to work for Senior Transportation with Advanced Reservations (STAR) in 1981. She was quickly promoted to full-time Operations Manager and held that position until her retirement in 2012. During her career she sought additional professional development by attending Wayne State University and was an exceptional student.

Sandi is survived by her loving husband, Ron, of nearly 56 years; daughters, Denise (Frank) Kodrack and Darla (Ken McCord) Kaiser; and grandchildren, Tessa Kodrack and Logan Kodrack. She will also be forever remembered by her brothers, Michael (Shelly) Shields and Edward (Geri) Rahm; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Sandi was predeceased by her mother, Rosella (Davies, Shields) Harvey; brother, Ted Rahm; sister, Kendra (“Kay”) Shurter; and step-father Rollie “Pete” Harvey.

No services are planned at this time due to COVID-19 precautions. Donations in Sandi’s name can be made to Angela’s Hospice https://angelahospice.org/donations-landing/ to support their important work.
