PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Petition has been filed with the Township Board of the Charter Township of Washington signed by the record owners of the above described lands constituting more than fifty (50%) percent of the total road frontage to be benefitted by the installation of certain paving improvements described in and proposed by said petition. On September 8, 2021, the Township Board created the special assessment district, approved the plans and estimates of costs for the proposed improvements and determined that the special assessment would be spread over a period of 20 years. Subsequent to September 8, 2021, the County of Macomb received bids for the proposed improvements, which bids exceed the original estimate of costs by more than 10%. §4(4) of Act 188 requires the Township Board to conduct a second public hearing to hear objections to the Petition, the installation of the proposed paving improvements and the creation of the special assessment district.
THE PAVING IMPROVEMENTS ARE DESCRIBED AS:
BARBARA ANN DRIVE, SHARON LEE DRIVE, SPRINGDALE COURT, VALLEYDALE COURT AND DONNA MARIE COURT – crush and shape of the existing asphalt surface. Undercut unsuitable material, additional aggregate subbase will be added as needed to provide a stable and well-graded base for asphalt surface. A total of 4.5” of asphalt overlay will be installed on the road surface with an average width of 22 feet. No aggregate shoulder will be installed. Existing drives will be removed and replaced from the edge of the road to the right of way. Existing driveway materials will be matched. Existing ditches will remain in place and be graded to ensure positive drainage. New culvert and end sections will be installed at each driveway per county standards. A new aluminum box culvert meeting County standards will be installed on Barbara Ann at the crossing of the Healy Brook Drain, general cleanup and restoration of the work site will occur following construction (topsoil, seed and mulch for all disturbed lawn areas).
Plans and estimates have been prepared and are on file with the Township Clerk for public examination.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Township Board will meet at 6:30 o’clock P.M. on June 15, 2022 at the Washington Township Municipal Offices located at 57900 Van Dyke Avenue, Washington, MI 48094 for the purpose of hearing any objections to the Petition, the installation of said paving improvements and the creation of a special assessment district based upon the increase in costs for the proposed improvements.
