DAVID L. SLATING

DAVID L. SLATING

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of David Lawrence Slating, 78, of Davisburg, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023.

David will be forever and lovingly remembered by his dear wife of 48 years, Linda Slating, eldest son David Mark Slating, daughter Monica Slating and son Brian Slating. He was blessed by 12 grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Orville and Vernita Slating, and his beloved son, Erik Kevin Slating.

An avid hunter and fisherman, David will also be dearly missed by his friends at the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club, where he taught his sons to enjoy the outdoors, which he loved.

David was a caring father, son and grandparent. Born and raised in Romeo, David was the only son of his adoring parents, whose family had a small working farm on 32 Mile Road. David was an athlete and graduate of Romeo High School in 1962. He took great joy in introducing his children and grandchildren to the outdoors, teaching them to hunt and fish, and passing on important skills, such as auto repair and other important life lessons. David was always available to help his family. After retiring from a long career at General Motors, David moved to Davisburg, where his wife still lives.

Visitation will be held at Coat’s Funeral Home at 8909 Dixie Highway in Clarkston from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, followed by the funeral service 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.. on Saturday, Feb. 11. A luncheon in celebration of David’s life will be held at the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club at 4770 Waterford Road in Clarkston, Michigan, following the funeral service.

Memorial donations may be made in David’s name to the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club, who have been proudly promoting conservation and sportsmanship since 1943, two things very close to David’s heart.

We will miss you, dear father, husband and grandfather! You have left an unforgettable mark on this world, but especially on our hearts. May you rest in peace.
