Virginia Lee (Knust) Bublitz, 91, of Lapeer, died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her home.  She was born May 26, 1931 in Romeo, the daughter of the late Walter and the late Ethel (Sutton) Knust. She married Walter Bublitz on Dec. 31, 1950 in Romeo.

Virginia grew up in Romeo and was a graduate of Romeo High School.  She continued her education for a year or so at Eastern Michigan University (previously Michigan Normal College).

Virginia and Walter were dairy farmers until 2007. They continued crop farming for many years beyond that.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Imlay City. Virginia enjoyed sewing hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was a dedicated volunteer and blood donor for the Red Cross Blood Mobile at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and throughout Lapeer County. Virginia enjoyed bowling and was on a ‘Holy Rollers’ church bowling league in Lapeer for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Bublitz; daughters, Gloria Bublitz of Lapeer, Joy Bublitz of Lapeer, and Judy Bublitz of Lapeer; her son, William “Bill” (Lisa) Bublitz of Attica; siblings, Eleanor Mehl, Lester (Barbara) Knust, Walter Knust, Lois Ann Burke, Richard (Janet) Knust; grandchildren, Ian (Mary) Bublitz and Boris Bublitz; and great -grandchildren, Uma, Lila, and Sunny.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ethel Knust; brothers, Russell Knust and Donald (Sharon) Knust; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Knust.

A memorial service is being planned for 11 a.m. Friday, May 26 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 North Cedar Street, Imlay City.
