Heddy Nowacki, 86, of Romeo, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, of complications from covid. She was born in 1936 to Zygmont and Genevieve Polakowski in international waters on route to Brazil from Poland, eventually moving to Utica, N.Y., and then to Hamtramck.
She married Richard Nowacki in 1956 in Detroit; they had four children before divorcing in 1981. She had lived in Romeo for more than 44 years.
Heddy is survived by sons, Dwayne (Cindy) Nowacki and Kenneth Nowacki; daughter, Sheila (Richard) Benton; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was pretty deceased by her parents, stepfather, Frank Zielinski and eldest son, Michael Nowacki.
Services will be held 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Clement of Rome Church in Romeo with a luncheon following.
