Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on amendments to Section 5.1 of the zoning ordinance, which governs accessory buildings, and Section 2.2, which includes related definitions. The amendments define “shed” and permit one shed under 200 square feet to be considered separately from the overall accessory building allowance, add additional standards for special land use approval of accessory buildings that exceed the size allowance or are locate in front and side yards, and establish a new scale of permitted accessory building square footage, which generally increases the permitted square footage for most lot sizes. The amendments further change the way accessory building size is measured, excluding roof overhangs from the total.
A complete copy of the amendments may be examined at Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065, prior to the public hearing, during the Township’s regular business hours, Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM through 4:30 PM and Thursday, 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM. Written comments may be addressed to the Planning Commission at the Township Hall address. Oral comments will be taken during the hearing on August 5, 2026.
