Patti (Hovey) Plotkowski , 72, of Shelby Township and formerly of Romeo, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at Corewell Health Troy Hospital. She was born on June 27, 1954, in Wyandotte, to Jack and Betty (Brosnan) Hovey.

Patti devoted herself to her family and took great pride in creating a loving home. Once her children were of school age, she worked for many years as a dental lab technician. She loved bowling and enjoyed being part of multiple leagues and teams over the years. She also found joy in playing cards, fishing, and cheering on the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. Patti’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Mutti.”

Patti will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Thomas Plotkowski; her children, Christine (Brad) Nygaard of Jenison, and their children, Erica and Anthony; and Katie (Thomas) Mittelstaedt of Sterling Heights, and their daughter, Sarah. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Hovey of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph (Joey), on June 20, 2014, and by her brother, Steven Hovey, on May 10, 2000.

Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 28, at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, at St. Kieran Catholic Church in Shelby Township.

Burial will be at a later date at Romeo Cemetery, where Patti will be laid to rest with her mother, son, and brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Patti’s name to the American Cancer Society. The family has participated in a walking/fund raising event for the last few years and donations can be made on their walking team’s webpage: https://mobileacs.org/0sreim (American Cancer Society-Making Strides).

Family asks that friends and family come as they are, no formal attire necessary.
