Gertrude Helen Schultz, 92, of Romeo, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 26, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of William and Ida (Springer) Jesse. She married her beloved husband Harry Joseph in Detroit on Sept. 16, 1949.
She was a longtime member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and recent member of Christ Lutheran Church of New Baltimore. Gertrude worked at the mailroom at the Packard Plant. She received her GED at age 78 in 2005. She was a crossing guard at Hollister and Main streets as well as Mussey and East St. Clair streets for over 17 years. She was known for her kind heart and shall be missed by many.
She is survived by her beloved children, Judith(Tom) Homier of Romeo, JoAnn (Dave) Kobs of Macomb Township, Margaret (Rob) Gessner of Greenville, S.C., Freida (Doug) Earp of Romeo, Evelyn (Bill) Olson of Fair Haven, Joe (Tracie) Schultz of Brown City, Noreen Schultz of Lapeer; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her beloved husband, Harry Joseph on Feb. 19, 1998; grandson, Donelly; and siblings, Edward Jesse, Florence Ardent and Lawrence Jesse.
A private visitation will be held with burial at White Chapel. A memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Roth-Muir Funeral Home (296 South Main, Romeo, MI 48065.)
