James “Ned” Howard, 89, of Romeo, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020. He was born Aug. 13, 1930, the son of Burton and Stella Jackson. He married his beloved wife, Judy Halden, on May 6, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ned served his country in the U. S. Army. He worked at Romeo Engine Plant for 33 years. He was a longtime member of the Romeo United Methodist Church where he was an active member helping with the annual fish fry and Labor Day festivities. He was an avid hunter in his younger years and a wood carver, making walking sticks and canes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy of Romeo; children, Deborah Bergeron of Clinton Township, Diane (Eric) Smith of Novi and Bruce (Charrin) Howard of Chesterfield; beloved grandchildren, Geoffrey (Amanda) Bergeron, Jackie (Michael) Garrington, Alex Brizard, Cory (Carolyn) Howard, Victor Bergeron, Brendan Smith; loving great-grandchildren, Katherine, Genevieve, Rachel, Daphne, Brayden, Blake, and James; and brother, Richard (Pamela) Jackson of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, B. J. Bergeron.
A private burial will be held at Romeo Cemetery.
