John Charles Thomas, 67, of Riley Township, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Township. He was born Jan. 3, 1955, in Mount Clemens, the son of the late Patrick and Jean (Drinkhorn) Thomas. His marriage to Cathleen McInerney was in 1976 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Southfield.

John was a graduate from Romeo High School. He then worked for Ford Motor Company for 31 years as an operator. After his retirement, he worked for Council of Aging in Yale as a bus driver for five years and worked part-time at Home Depot for four years.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathleen; four children, Kevin (Erica) of Shelby Township, Betsy Thomas of Casco Township, Courtney (Greg) Peachey of Memphis and Sean (Emily) of Mount Clemens; grandchildren, Lily and Logan Peachey; siblings, Nancy Knoll, Jeff (Cheryl) Thomas, Tim Thomas, Stacy (Brad) Johnson and David (Angela) Thomas; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Lucas and Patsy Hauck.

The family honors the memory of John and invites you to visit and share memories 3-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4 at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.

Rite of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Holy Family Parish, Memphis, with visiting at 10 a.m. Fr. Phil Ching, pastor, will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Michigan Human Society.
