A Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 7:00 pm at the regular meeting of the Charter Township of Oakland Board of Trustees at Oakland Township Hall, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, Michigan 48306. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow the Township Board to hear and consider any objections to the creation of the Special Assessment District as provided by Public Act 188 of 1954. The SAD will maintain the existing dike (dam), control aquatic weeds/plants and lake improvement and confirmation of the petition for sufficiency. The proposed collection rate is estimated at riparian $300.00 and non-riparian $100.00 for each parcel and for a period of five (5) years, for a total amount of $165,997.75 to be raised.
The assessment roll and documentation are available at the Township Offices during regular business hours for public inspection. Appearance and/or written protest at the hearing held to confirm the special assessment roll is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. Any interested person may appear and comment in person or by agent or attorney upon the scheduled agenda item during the public hearing to be held at the date, time, and location above. Written comments may be submitted to the Charter Township of Oakland at 4393 Collins Rd, Rochester, MI 48306, or via email at mail@oaklandtwpmi.gov prior to the scheduled Public Hearing date. Necessary and reasonable aids to individuals with disabilities will be provided for in-person meetings with seven days’ notice.
