Notice is hereby given that the Bruce Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 beginning at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on amendments to the zoning ordinance:
• Add new Section 161-4.48 governing solar energy systems, and add definitions for solar energy. The regulations would further establish the locations where ground-mounted solar energy systems are permitted. Small systems (under 400 square feet) would be permitted in all districts, medium systems permitted in the RS districts and a special land use in the C-2, C-3, M-1, and R-1 districts, and large systems (over 5 acres) as a special land use in the RS and R-1 districts.
• Amend Sections 161-5.8.F. and 161-3.5 to exempt parcels over 10 acres from the 4-to-1 depth-to-width ratio.
A complete copy of the amendment may be examined at Bruce Township Hall, 223 East Gates Street, Romeo, MI 48065, prior to the public hearing, during the Township’s regular business hours, Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM through 4:30 PM and Thursday, 8:30 AM through 4:30 PM. Written comments may be addressed to the Planning Commission at the Township Hall address. Oral comments will be taken during the hearing on May 3, 2023.
