NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON LOCATED IN THE UTICA SCHOOL DISTRICT, that a Special School Election will be held in the Charter Township of Washington, County of Macomb, State of Michigan
TUESDAY, May 2, 2023
Polls will be open at 7:00 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day
AT THE POLLING LOCATIONS AS INDICATED BELOW:
7 – Washington Lions Club, 58000 Van Dyke Rd.
10 – Stoney Creek Community Church, 11711 26 Mile Rd.
To comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in Braille. All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities.
TO VOTE ON THE FOLLOWING PROPOSALS:
REPLACEMENT OPERATING MILLAGE: A proposal to replace, restore and extend the authority of the school district to levy the statutory limit of 18 mills on all property exempt by law which currently expires with the school district 2024 tax levy.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT BOND: A proposal to borrow and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds for the purpose of defraying the cost of rebuilding and constructing additions to school district buildings and remodeling; acquiring and installing technology equipment and infrastructure; and acquiring, preparing, developing or improving sites for school district buildings, structures, athletic fields, playgrounds, or other facilities and purchasing school buses.

Absentee Ballot Application Deadline:
In order to have your ballots mailed to you in time, Applications for Absentee Ballots must be received by the Township Clerk’s Office, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023. The Office of the Township Clerk will be open on Saturday April 29, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to accept and process absentee ballot application requests and other election related business. The deadline for voting by absentee ballot in person is Monday, May 1, 2023 at 4:00 pm.
