On May 17, 2023, the Township Board of the Charter Township of Washington, Macomb County, Michigan, adopted an Amendment to the Washington Township Zoning Ordinance, as amended, establishing a revised site plan amendment procedure for planned unit developments; delegating authority to the Planning Commission to determine whether a proposed modification is a minor or major modification; revising standards for minor modification reviews by the Planning Commission; adding the definition of preplanning advisory committee; setting forth the purpose of the advisory committee; establishing regulations and requirements for conditional rezoning and rezoning processes; providing that the Zoning Board of Appeals shall have jurisdiction to interpret the zoning map and to hear and decide appeals from and review any administrative order, requirement, decision or determination made by an official or body charged with enforcement of the zoning ordinance; revising regulations for residential developments to require that entryway features, signs and landscaping comply with Section 5.14 (Clear Vision Area); establishing regulations and requirements for solar energy systems; establishing a new light industrial zoning district, Industrial-Research-Technology (IRT) setting forth the intent, the principal uses, special land uses and development standards for the district and repealing any and all Resolutions or Ordinances in conflict therewith. The Ordinance Amendment shall become effective seven (7) days after the date of this publication. A copy of the Zoning Ordinance Amendment may be purchased or inspected during regular business hours at the Washington Township Clerk’s Office located at 57900 Van Dyke Avenue, Washington Township, MI 48094. A copy of the Zoning Ordinance Amendment is also available for inspection on the Washington Township website at www.washingtontownship.org.
