PUBLIC NOTICE – NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2024 WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of Washington Township, and not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Township Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at www.mi.gov/vote and mailed to the Washington Township Clerk. Those who have a valid Michigan driver’s license or state ID may register to vote or update their voter registration online at www.mvic.sos.state.mi.us/registervoter .

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, February 12, 2024. After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the Washington Township Clerk’s office, located at 57900 Van Dyke Rd. Washington Township., MI 48094 at the following times:

• Regular business hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Saturday February24th from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Election Day, Tuesday February 27th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

3. ROMEO COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

BUILDING AND SITE SINKING FUND MILLAGE RENEWAL:

This proposal will renew and restore the authority last approved by the electors in 2019 and which expires with the 2024 levy for the School District to levy a building and site sinking fund millage, the proceeds of which will be used to make improvements and repairs to the School District’s facilities. The prior authorization of 1.25 mills has been permanently reduced to 1.2127 mills pursuant to the reduction required under the Michigan Constitution. Pursuant to State law, the expenditure of the building and site sinking fund millage proceeds must be audited, and the proceeds cannot be used for teacher, administrator or employee salaries, maintenance or other operating expenses.

4. ROMEO COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

OPERATING MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL:

This proposal will renew and restore the authority last approved by the electors in 2021 and which expires with the 2024 levy for the School District to levy the statutory limit of 18 mills on all property, except principal residences and other property exempted by law and allow the School District to continue to levy the statutory limit of 18 mills in the event of future Headlee rollbacks of up to 0.5 mill. The authorization will allow the School District to continue to receive revenues at the full per pupil foundation allowance permitted by the State.

BALLOT SELECTION NOTE:

When requesting a ballot, you are required by law to select one ballot type. You must indicate on an Application to Vote or a Ballot Selection Postcard, either by mail or at the poll during the nine (9) days of Early Voting or on Election Day, your desire to vote a Republican Party Presidential Primary Ballot, a Democratic Party Presidential Primary Ballot or a Ballot Without Presidential Primary. If you do not select a ballot type, a ballot cannot be issue to you.
