Pres. Coenen called meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Council members present at roll call: Coenen, Clark, Sledz, Adair, and Boelke. Absent: Shall and Vacant Council Seat. Also present: Clerk Poulos, Treasurer Porter, Fire Chief Stephen Kohut, Stacy Sobotka, Amy Barzyk, Scott Pearl, Diana Pearl, and Kevin Grand.
COUNCIL ACTION: The new Fire Chief Stephen Kohut introduced himself to the Council and the Public and stated he is very happy to be serving the community. Unanimously approved Agenda as amended: added – Consider a Resolution accepting the Contract between the Village of Armada and MDOT; added – Set Special Meeting to Appoint to the Vacant Council Seat. Heard and Received: Treasurer’s Report for February, 2024; Zoning Board of Appeals meeting minutes of 11-30-23; Verbal Reports from the Water and Sewer Commissioners and the Street Administrator. Approved the Consent Agenda as presented: RCM Minutes of 2/26/24 approved as presented; Payment of Bills totaling $77,764.14 as presented. Unanimously approved: to enter into Public Hearing to consider adoption of a Resolution confirming the annual Special Assessment Roll for the Armada Village Police Special Assessment District at 7:12 p.m.; to exit Public Hearing at 7:14 p.m.; to adopt the Resolution confirming the special assessment roll for the purpose of defraying Police Protection Costs in the Armada Village Police Special Assessment District and directing further proceeding for the collection and distribution of the special assessment levy on the taxable value of all lands and premises in the District; to appoint Stephen Clark as President Pro Tem for the Village of Armada, to a term ending November 25, 2024; to adopt the resolution accepting Contract No. 24-5026 between the Michigan Department of Transportation and Village of Armada for the resurfacing of First Street and Simon Street and authorizing the President and Clerk to sign the Contract on behalf of the Village; to set a Special Meeting of Council on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. and to direct the Clerk to post the appropriate notice as required by Michigan’s open Meeting Act.
