DEC. 11 ISSUE ANSWERS: In last week’s column you learned that Lyman Holmes got the contract in Romeo to cast the cylinder jugs for the Model-N, S and R Ford cars. It is now 1908 and the engineers at the Piquette Plant have invented a new car. It is called the Model T. Never before was an engine block made in one piece. The molds for the new block were sent to Romeo’s West Lafayette Street foundry. Yes, the only place in the world where Model T engine castings were made for the Model T in 1908. 1908-1910(11.) 23,000-30,000 blocks were cast by 125 Romeo workers.
