AUG. 20 ISSUE ANSWERS: Just south of the hotel on South Main Street in Romeo between Washington and Lafayette Street were four homes according to the 1868 Birds Eye Drawing. There was also an alley which would match the alley across the street. You can see the opposite alley next to Little Ceaser’s pizza store. These were razed to make room for the above light brick building. The window design suggests that it was constructed close to 1900. At the time of this photo the building was a Ford Motor Company dealer and maybe a repair facility. Model T’s came with their own repair manual so maybe it did more sales than repairs. The Craig Blacksmith Museum has one of these repair manuals. When I moved to Romeo, this building was the Alward’s grocery store. Currently this building has been removed to make way for the Paton Way condominiums. Richard Beringer, Romeo Historical Society Curator
