MARCH 25 ISSUE ANSWERS: On the southeast corner of St. Clair and Main Street in Romeo was a Greek Revival style wooden structure in the top photo. It was probably built in the 1850s or early 60’s. It appears in the 1868 bird’s eye drawing of Romeo. It might have been a general store or a grocery. The ladies are all dressed in their finest watching the parade. This building was razed to make way for the current brick building currently occupied by Paramount Roofing Company. In decades past, a series of drug stores used the building along with Harris Luggage. The Romeo Historical Society Archives has a notebook telling the story of one of these drug stores.
